Strong Magnets Are Good. Smart Magnets Are Better

When people think about magnetic water treatment, it's easy to assume that bigger magnets simply mean better performance. In reality, there’s much more to it than that. The type of magnet, its strength, and even the way its magnetic poles are arranged all play an important role in how effectively a device performs.
That’s why the Magnostream and Magnostream Pro hydromagnetic devices were carefully designed by Abimax to make the most of magnetic technology. Abimax has developed systems that combine powerful magnets with intelligent design to deliver consistent, long-term performance.
A Brief History of Magnetic Water Treatment
The concept of magnetic water treatment has been explored for over a century, with a rumour that as long ago as 1870 , the famous French scientist Louis Pasteur was fascinated with magnets & plant growth.

By the mid-20th century, research became more structured. In the 1950s to 1970s, Several Soviet researchers investigated whether magnetic fields could influence scaling behaviour in industrial water systems. Scientists such as Boris A. Rusanov and V. I. Klassen explored how magnetic exposure might affect mineral-rich water used in boilers, pipelines, and cooling systems.
This work was driven largely by practical engineering challenges, particularly the need to reduce scale build-up in industrial infrastructure.
In the 1990s, Professor Mike Coey from Trinity College Dublin was a prominent scientist studying magnetic water and its effects on reducing limescale by altering the ratio of calcium crystals from calcite to aragonite. Since the year 2000, magnetic water treatment has been a huge area of horticultural science research. While results across studies were mixed, this period helped spark wider international interest in magnetic water research and laid important groundwork for later developments in hydromagnetic technology.
What Is Structured Water?
More Than Just H₂O
One concept often associated with hydromagnetic treatment is structured water. While the term can mean different things in different fields, it generally refers to changes in the way water molecules organise themselves when exposed to external influences such as magnetic fields, pressure, flow dynamics, or natural environmental conditions.
Water is far more dynamic & intelligent than it appears. At the molecular level, hydrogen bonds are constantly forming and breaking, creating ever-changing microscopic structures. Hydromagnetic systems are designed to expose flowing water to controlled magnetic fields, potentially influencing these interactions and the behaviour of dissolved minerals within the water.
Scientists who are commonly associated with research, theories, or advocacy around structured water include;
Gerald Pollack - Professor at the University of Washington, best known for his work on "Exclusion Zone (EZ) Water" and the book The Fourth Phase of Water.
Masaru Emoto - Popularized the idea that thoughts, words, and music affect water crystal formation.
Viktor Schauberger - Austrian forester and inventor whose ideas about vortex flow and water energetics continue to influence many alternative water-treatment technologies.
Veda Austin - Artist/researcher documenting ice patterns and interpreting them to show the intelligence & creation of water. Austin’s work sits within a broader “structured water” or “water consciousness” narrative.
Magnostream®: Proven Ferrite Magnet Technology
Reliability Built into Every Drop
At the heart of the Magnostream are four slimline ferrite magnets, which have been trusted in industrial applications for decades thanks to their durability, stability, and corrosion resistance. By arranging four magnets in a carefully engineered configuration, the Magnostream creates a consistent magnetic field through which water flows. The result is a robust, maintenance-free system that operates without electricity or moving parts.
Magnostream Pro®: When More Power Is Needed
Double the Magnetic Intensity

For applications requiring higher magnetic intensity, the Magnostream Pro uses neodymium magnets, valued among the strongest permanent magnets available today. Their compact size and extreme strength allow the Magnostream Pro to generate a highly concentrated magnetic field - applying the right strength in the right combination of angles - making it ideal for larger more commercial applications - ( such as used in the Elleholms Swedish Tomato Trials) and for whole-house chemical-free limescale treatment.

Why Polarity Matters Just as Much as Strength

While magnetic strength often gets the most attention, polarity is equally important. Every magnet has a north and south pole, and the way these poles are arranged inside a device determines how the magnetic field behaves.
Think of it as the difference between raw power and carefully controlled performance.
Both the Magnostream and Magnostream Pro, are specially designed products , their magnets are positioned with precise polarity configurations to create alternating magnetic zones. As water flows through the device, it passes through these changing field orientations, maximising exposure to the magnetic field. Both systems are designed by Abimax to deliver long-lasting, maintenance-free operation without electricity, chemicals, or moving parts.
This level of design detail is what transforms Abimax strong magnets into an engineered hydromagnetic solution.
A Word from the Founder
Abimax Founder, Guy Cinnamon, explains:
“The unique effectiveness of Abimax hydromagnetic technology lies in the combination of magnetic field strength, polarity configuration, and water flow dynamics, which maximise the exposure of flowing water to carefully controlled magnetic fields’’.
‘’Abimax is designed to support cleaner irrigation systems by helping to manage mineral scale and deposits that can affect pipes, drippers, and irrigation equipment.’’
‘’By optimising water quality and irrigation performance, Abimax helps create conditions that support healthy plant development, efficient nutrient delivery, and productive crop growth, which are key factors in achieving strong yields and high-quality produce.’’
The Bottom Line
Whether you choose the Magnostream or the Magnostream Pro, you’re getting more than just magnets in a housing. You’re investing in hydromagnetic technology developed by Abimax that combines strong magnetic fields, precision polarity design, and robust engineering. Because in magnetic water treatment, performance isn’t just about strength, it’s about how intelligently that strength is applied.
